Getting a great night’s sleep at the campground will help you to make the most of your vacation days! Learn these RV tips from a full-time RVing couple that knows all the secrets to make your stay at the campground comfortable and cozy!
Try switching your climate control to “on” instead of “auto”
One of the things that have made the biggest difference in our comfort level is changing our heating or air conditioning system off of “on” and onto “auto.” Now, we can set the temperature in the room, and the system takes care of the rest, giving us the comfort we need without having to turn it on and off every hour or so.
Double-check your RV is level, and the jacks are set up correctly
We all know the feeling of lying down and feeling like you’re rolling down a hill. Before the sun goes down, double-check all of your jacks and that the slides are extended properly. Additionally, if you feel like the RV is unlevel, let your auto-leveling system have another go! Usually, just running the auto leveling a second time will fix the issue.
Pick your campsite carefully and avoid campsites near the entrance
People arrive at the campground at all hours of the night, so the last thing you want is to be woken up by a diesel engine pulling passed your campsite and 3:00 AM. Pick a campsite that’s a good distance from the entrance to avoid being woken up at all hours by late arrivals.
Invest in a mattress topper before your first night at the campground
We are a rare exception to the norm when it comes to the RV mattresses. My husband and I both absolutely love our RV mattress and haven’t needed to change it after 2 years full-time in the RV. However, what we should have done immediately was purchase a mattress topper. These are inexpensive and can provide additional cushion where you need it. Mattress toppers also protect the mattress from wear and tear.
