It’s officially fall and that means it’s time to start planning your fall camping trips. Early fall camping offers wonderful weather, gorgeous scenery, colorful leaves, less crowded campsites and a break from the bugs that can often pester you during the warmer weather. In fact, while summer is the busiest camping season, you’ll find many people actually prefer fall camping.
Here are some tips to help you make the most of your fall camping season. So pack up your travel trailer or fifth wheel and get ready for some good old family fun.
Recipes
When you’re planning meals for the road, consider preparing and freezing ahead of time hearty stews, soups and chili, or set them to cook in your crock pot while you’re out for the day. This makes coming back to your RV and enjoying a fresh meal easy. When ready, cook up some quick biscuits or bread to serve alongside. This is also a great way to warm up after being outside in the cool weather.
Clothing
Always pack extra clothing so you can layer when outside. During cool fall mornings you’ll likely find yourself gravitating toward sweaters, but come afternoon you will want t-shirts and tank tops. Some avid RVers even keep their travel clothes packed in their RV so they’re ready whenever adventure calls. With the abundant storage and closets in today’s RVs, storage is never a problem.
Weather
Fall weather can be unpredictable. Be sure to plan plenty of back up indoor activities for the family just in case the weather takes a turn for the worse. Local museums, eateries and other attractions are a great idea. Other options include just packing some of your favorite games or movies and relaxing. Many RVs now include fireplaces which makes Fall and Winter travel that much cozier.
Destination
While it might be appealing to select a travel destination in warm weather, your fall travel spot should be somewhere on the east coast. Why? Because the east coast has some of the most gorgeous fall foliage you will ever see. Bring your camera and get ready to capture America in one of its most gorgeous states.
Wherever your Fall destination leads, stop in at Hitch RV in Turnersville NJ or Milford DE to get ready for the trip.
