Camping Recipe: Beef Tips and Veggies

Beef tips and veggies

Ingredients

  • 1 package of stew beef or beef tips
  • 1 packet pus jus gravy mix
  • 1/2 packet ranch mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 4 large carrots
  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 3 celery stalks
  • 1 medium onionCarrots

Instructions

Crock-Pot/Dutch Oven
  1. Build a fire and set up your Dutch oven.
  2. Add a small pat of butter to the pot and pour in the beef.
  3. Wash all produce.
  4. Peel and roughly chop carrots and onion.
  5. Chop potatoes and celery
  6. Add all veggies to the pot and top with the aus jus mix, ranch mix, the remaining butter, and 1/2 cup water.
  7. Cover and simmer until veggies are soft and the beef is cooked through but not tough — 30-40 minutes.
  8. Stir frequently and add water as needed.
  9. Serve hot!
Instant Pot
  1. Wash all produce.
  2. Peel and roughly chop carrots and onion.
  3. Chop potatoes and celery
  4. Add all ingredients to the pot layering as follows: beef, potatoes and carrots, onions and celery, aus jus mix, ranch mix, butter, and then water.
  5. Pressure cook on high for 35 minutes and allow it to naturally depressurize for ten minutes.
  6. Salt and pepper to taste and serve!

Tip:  We like to add rice or a nice hearty bread to dip in the sauce.
